About me
Hi. I am Alicia Shea.
I am a former professional services executive, and I have a reputation of being an excellent programmer. As one former manager said, "Alicia: you write code, and it works!"
After a career that started out with programming and ended with executive management positions, I am pursuing work that I really love: creating useful software applications and websites that really work and that people like. I absolutely love sitting in front of a computer and solving problems.
I am the face, heart and soul (sole!) of wallewu.com.
My Value
I bring to the table many years of business experience across multiple industries, working both the user and customer sides. (If you want all the details of that experience, have a look at my professional resume). I bring this experience to your project, along with common sense and user perspective. I'm not just "a geek web developer."
I have the ability to think things through and to ask the questions that you don't even know you need to ask. I work with you to develop a site that not only looks good, but that works and truly supports your business model.
My Style
I specialize in clean, uncluttered, easy-to-navigate sites. Take a look at my portfolio, and you'll see what I mean.
I am ethical, personable, detailed-oriented and extremely conscientious. I will not take on a job that I do not think I can do. Once I do accept a project, I am totally committed to it and stay engaged in it. Check out how I work for more details.
I work remotely, mostly from my home base in Belmont, MA, a sleepy little suburb just to the west of Boston. I know how to do this. My management career involved managing remote support staff, and I did a very effective job of that even without the internet (yikes!). I have the infrastructure in place, and the personality and experience, to be an efficient, effective and communicative telecommuter.
Technical Skills
I am proud to say that I am completely self-taught in web development. My years of "old fashioned" programming gave me a good basis for this. I am resourceful and have assembled a whole host of online resources that I draw upon when I need help. I am a long-time problem solver, and I do not stay stuck on a problem for long. If you want to know more about my exact technical abilities, hop on over to my geek stuff page.
