What the client wanted

The site was for a self storage business. The client did not have an existing website and just wanted a web presence. Nothing fancy. Enough to tell a prospective customer what they offered and why they were unique. The client had no technical skills with respect to web design and development, and had no digital photos, only color negatives. There was no existing logo, other than some lettering stencilled on the front door. The client had no idea of what she wanted; told me to do what I thought was best. She also didn't want any email links or forms on the site, only a phone number.

What I did

  • Reviewed all the negatives, selected appropriate photos, digitized and editted them
  • Designed the logo to match the stencilling on the door and gave it a background to match the look of the garage doors in the storage facility
  • Picked the color scheme off of the photos, focusing on the red of the doors and the greys of the steel.
  • Designed the look and feel.
  • Did all of the coding for site.
  • Helped the client register the domain name and set up a hosting account.
